Need a producer? I'm talkin sweet deals!
Some producers(like myself) work with every and any budget! As a way to open more doors for indie artists i find myself making sweet deals with them as much as i can. You have to look at this way; if you sell exclusive rights instrumentals for a lower price cause the artist is on a tight budget, you can (and im sorry artists) raise your production publishing % higher. 10 recent instrumentals i sold for a measly $100/each, but the manager agreed to sign me over 50% of the publishing and 4 points on royalties! Now if his artists blow up on my beats(which they should) im gonna get more in the "back end". I also like to do weekly payments, as this may sound unorthidox, an artist or manager will pay me $100-200/weekly for 2-4 instrumentals with exclusive rights! With a 3-6 month contract everybody wins. It guarantees me money that motivates and them high quality industry standard instrumentals in a fair matter!

Why Network?
Networking is an essential to getting your name around the business. If people don't know your name how will they hear ur music? For a long time i didn't like to network, i felt it was a waste of time, plus i had a semi major production deal so as far as money, i wasn't hurtin for people to know my name. After the last major deal fell through i found it VERY important for anyone and everyone in the business(major or indie) to know my name, face, music, etc...The more people that know you, the higher your chances are for business! Im a singwriter/producer more than an artist, but with all the people that know me and my music i get calls/texts/emails/tweets/etc almost every hour for something new to produce!
What program takes it to another level?
Just to list a few of the tools i use to create hits: Logic Pro, Reason Record, Pro Tools... Ive found mixing these together allows you to get more in depth with the production. Make a drumline in REASON, do a few synths and a bassline in LOGIC PRO and then throw em in pro tools to sequence. Try it and i bet you get more maticulous with your production!

What are your thoughts and experience on producers tagging beats for artists to use until they purchase? As a producer I am not willing to hand out a beat for free with the assumption ill get paid. Artists and producers please post your comments on how you feel
Major features
Did you know....that just to get a major feature you have to put money down without the labels approval! That's right! Your money is no longer yours plus you still don't have the artists verse nor do you even have the labels' approval. Fair or not?

Watch out for *Talkers*
a lot of people can talk the talk, but they gotta walk the walk in this business! dont let someone run your ear for weeks and talk you up. let th business come to you! if your grindin dont sleep for some false hopes from someone else. if you want something you gotta get it yourself! nobody can buy you into a contract nor can they "hook you up" wit deals.
Managers...Good or Bad.
what ive come to when it comes to managers is twisted. i can talk to a major artist, get his ok on purchasing a beat but then the manager turns around when he/she breaks wind of the deal and theyll shut it down if it isnt proposed correctly to them or if they feel left out(meaning no cut). Like a major artist im in the process of getting a feature from. The artist and i have a pretty good relationship and he is perfecto wit trading one of my beats for his verse(feature). Now the manager is hitting me up saying make a decent CASH offer. No offense but we already had this planned and maybe the managers right cause they deserve there cut, but if they didnt get the business why do they deserve the financials from it? whats your thoughts? and experiences?
